The nursery is headed by its Director, Susan Wakelin, a fully qualified Early Years Teacher who had over eleven years Primary School based teaching experience before taking over the nursery 10 years ago.

Brambly Hedge Day Nursery Castleford staff members also attend regular childcare training courses to ensure that we are kept up to date and are constantly improving our practice. Staff members are trained in Food Hygiene and all aspects of Health and Safety and all staff have attended courses in Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Children.

At Brambly Hedge Day Nursery Castleford we recognise that continuity is vital for children as they develop and grow and we are proud that we have many long standing staff members, several of whom have been with us for over a decade (and even longer!). Such staff members, in particular, allow us to provide stability and consistency for our children and friendly, familiar faces for our parents.

All staff members have been through a rigorous selection process, which includes background checks by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB Checks) and reference follow-ups. The majority of staff members are NVQ Level 3 Qualified; we also employ staff members who are working towards Level 4 qualifications and Early Years Professional Status (Graduate Status).
